Every time I open this app right now I am bombarded by GLP1s and I GET IT, it’s a huge conversation. I am in full support of people doing what makes sense for them, whatever’s in support of their health and whatever their doctor says. Through all of this though I do think we need a little reminder that your weight is still the least interesting thing about you. The scale cannot tell me if you’re funny, if you’re a good friend, doesn’t show me if you have a good heart or not, if you’re a good mom, or if you’re someone who has been trying their best for a very long time. For most of my life I thought that my weight WAS the most important thing about me. I know what it feels like to want to change so badly that you start thinking you’re the problem and you’re the exception, like it’s just never going to happen for you, and you start making every choice from shame and guilt and panic. My therapist used to ask me, “what’s the most loving thing you can do for yourself right now?” That question seriously changed how I think because nstead of asking “how do I punish myself back into control?” it became “what would actually help me right now?” Sometimes that answer was making a good meal for myself, going for a walk, getting off my phone, calling a friend, or literally just taking a second before my brain ran straight to the most extreme plan or the most restrictive version of “fixing it.” Whatever route you’re on, I hope you can ask yourself that before you make the next choice out of panic. What’s the most loving thing I can do for myself right now? Maybe it’s not the next 30 day challenge, or thinking you need to cut carbs, maybe it’s just taking a second to realize you don’t have to turn one hard day into a full life overhaul. Start there🫶🏻
