You're not living loke a king for a $1000 a month in Thailand. you will just about survive on that if you inly uses buses, live in a non aircon studio apartment, never eat anything other than local food, never drink, never go out, never party. I know this because I've lived and worked in Thailand for 25 years, and my wife of 25 years is also Thai. maybe 15 years ago you could live on a 1000 a month, but not these days.
