My husband literally took a competitors car on a test drive and drove it straight to the dealership and parked it next to the car we were comparing against. The discounts came so aggressively after that

Not in Canada. They will let you walk. The dealerships all have an unwritten rule. They will not play against each other. The sales guy will do everything to make the sale, but the manager will ruin the deal if they hear you've been shopping around prior for the same car from one of the competitors dealerships. In most cases in Canada the same group owns the dealership.

Works everytime. I told them Ill drive 2 hours and get other truck with a better price, knowingly I wasnt gonna drive but I walked out with the truck $7,000 cheaper

The funny part is that us car salesmen know these tactics already, and we’ve got plenty of counters for this. Come to the dealership and make a few counteroffers, and that’s how you really get a good deal. If you play games, it’s game on. If you are serious about buying you will get a good deal! This is 2026 we know our customers are informed.
