Update: Safe and out of the shelter with @strongpawsrescue 🥲🙏 —— Sandy is a one year old American Bulldog mix who has clearly seen hell on earth. Her skin is severely inflamed and she appears to have sarcoptic mange, which is causing relentless itching. She is rubbing and scratching her face so badly that she is bleeding, and her eyes are nearly swollen shut from infection. Because of the blood, infection, and how much pain she is in, I cannot safely temperament test her with other dogs right now. It would not be fair to put another dog in her face when she can barely see and is suffering like this. When I first tried to leash her she was understandably terrified. With her vision limited and her body hurting, the leash initially scared her, but I needed to get her out of the kennel to try to help her. Once she came out she completely melted. She was incredibly loving and just wanted to curl up in my lap and be held. Sandy needs a 501c3 rescue tag and a committed foster who can take over once she leaves whatever hospital she is sent to. She will need medical care, time to heal, and someone patient who understands she is scared because she is in pain. She is only one year old and deserves the chance to finally know comfort and safety. Rescues need fosters!
