Subsidies are not so much to help the farmer as much as it is to protect lenders and ag suppliers. Same with crop insurance subsidies, protects lenders and landlords way more than farmers.

Market corrections are inevitable, we can try and correct ourself or prevent and eventually it will catch up to us. Sometimes the first hit would feel better then after we’ve sat there for a year or two poking it then take the hit that really really hurts

Was ranting about this today. Amen. To many BTO overpaying for rent. Porking the coals to the plant to get as may bu as possible. 20% less fertilizer doesn’t equate 20% less bu. We over produce anyways.

Well said! The only thing I would add is: if the market is working, the least productive commodity producers should not only be allowed to fail, it should be expected that they fail. Harsh realities but reality nonetheless.
