I don’t understand how blk ppl move to Cali in general. If you’re not going there to pursue acting, modeling, entertainment business, etc it’s a waste.

I think people can have negative experiences in any major city, especially ones that are heavily publicized. Having lived in places like New York, Chicago, and now California, I don’t think your conclusion is entirely fair. It seems based on a few visits rather than a deeper understanding of Los Angeles as a whole. Los Angeles County is vast and incredibly diverse, so making a blanket judgment after limited exposure feels premature. It also comes across like your expectations were shaped more by what’s projected about LA glitz, glamour, and social media hotspots rather than an interest in experiencing the city authentically. To be honest, most people who actually live in LA don’t frequent the kinds of places visitors often gravitate toward. If you were genuinely seeking a specific cultural experience especially one rooted in Black or African communities you likely would have found it with a bit more intention. There are plenty of spaces that offer that atmosphere, but they’re not always the ones trending online. Instead, it seems like you followed curated, Instagram-driven locations and received exactly that kind of surface-level experience. That’s not necessarily a reflection of the city itself, but of where and how you chose to engage with it. It’s frustrating when people dismiss an entire city based on limited, misaligned experiences. A more constructive approach would be to ask where to find the vibe you’re looking for, explore those spaces, and then form an opinion from there. Walking into an environment that clearly doesn’t align with your expectations and recognizing that from the moment you arrive makes it difficult to then generalize that experience as representative of the whole. This isn’t about attacking you, but about encouraging a more informed and intentional perspective.

LA is a city, where you pick your own vibe. You visited it experiencing someone else’s vibe. Why don’t you visit again and do things that actually interest you. It’s a lot of beautiful fun options, that don’t involve clubs/nightlife.

There’s definitely colorism even from black men which is disappointing, sections full of everybody but their own people 😬 but I love LA bc there’s more to it than Clubbing tbh
