@meghannmcuniff: A jury in Summit County, Utah, tonight convicted a 35-year-old woman of five felonies, including aggravated murder, for the fentanyl poisoning of her husband, Eric Richins. Jurors deliberated for about two hours and 40 minutes before finding Kouri Richins guilty of all counts. Judge Richard Mrazik read the verdict about 6:30 p.m. today (Monday, March 16) at the courthouse near Park City. He scheduled sentencing for May 13. The camera focused on Eric Richins' sister, Katie Richins-Benson, and brother in law, who hired the private investigator who spearheaded the murder case against Richins. Evidence showed Richins was deeply in debt and infatuated with portraying a luxurious lifestyle when she forged her husband's signature on an insurance policy and persuaded her housekeeper to obtain fentanyl pills for her. She was convicted of attempted aggravated murder for trying to poison her husband's bagel sandwich with fentanyl on Valentine's Day about three weeks before his March 4, 2022, death.
