this benefits people who need to turn around on the highway but I'm not seeing how this benefits people who would have otherwise started on the left/right and crossed to the opposite side. they have two stoplights and a confusing intersection

what's the benefit of this over a roundabout? over here we typically use one big or two small roundabouts in this kind of situation, wouldnt all these crossings slow down traffic flow a lot?

I thought diverging diamonds were INSANE till they put one in about 5 mins from my house. The traffic flow in that area is so much better now! I didn't really get it till I drove it myself.
