im not hearing fear, im hearing concern. the deputy is watching highway traffic to make sure he or the subject doesn't get hit, while he's watching the subject to make sure he doesn't harm himself or get to close with the knife, also while trying to keep his dispatcher up to speed. try working a potentially dangerous situation with divided attention and try to keep everyone safe and see how your voice sounds.
