The Crystal Antlers The Fire Tiger heard a branch snap beyond the ferns. He stopped beneath the trees, one paw resting on a root. Blue, orange, and teal flames moved along his back, lighting the leaves around him. Something stood farther up the trail. A stag stepped into the moonlight. Clear crystals grew along its antlers. Some were short and thick. Others ended in narrow points that caught the light as it turned its head. The Fire Tiger lifted his nose. The stag watched him without moving. His flames reflected inside its antlers, filling the clear points with small flashes of color. Then it turned and walked away. He followed. The trail passed between tall ferns. Their wet tips brushed his shoulders, leaving drops that shone briefly against his fur. Ahead, the stag’s antlers remained visible above the leaves. It moved quickly, but whenever a bend carried it out of sight, he found it waiting on the other side. Soon the ground began to climb. The Fire Tiger stepped over fallen branches and worked his way around a split boulder. His Golden Healer patch caught a warm glow on his right cheek. Beneath the sound of his paws, he could still feel the shared white light. A cool breeze came down the slope. He raised his head. Through the trees, he could see open sky. The stag climbed the last few steps and disappeared over the ridge. The Fire Tiger pushed through the ferns after it. A wide valley opened below him. Moonlight lay across the grass. A river curved between low hills, with pale crystal beds scattered along its banks. Far below, several deer grazed beside the water. The stag stood near the edge of the ridge. Out here, its antlers looked different. With no branches hiding them, the Fire Tiger could see long crystal points reaching above its head, each one holding a faint reflection of the moon. He came closer and stopped beside it. For a while, they watched the valley. Then the stag lowered its head toward him. The Fire Tiger stayed still as one crystal tip touched the Golden Healer on his cheek. A small golden reflection traveled through the antlers. It reached the highest point, then faded as the stag lifted its head. His whiskers twitched. He leaned forward to sniff the nearest crystal. The stag gave a soft snort and stepped back, and the Fire Tiger opened his mouth in a quiet pant. Below them, a deer lifted its head from the grass. The stag turned toward a narrow path leading down the hillside. Loose stones shifted beneath its hooves as it began the descent. The Fire Tiger followed, placing his paws carefully between the rocks. By the time they reached the river, the trees were far behind them. He lowered his head to drink. Cold water moved around the stones beneath his chin, breaking the reflection of his flames into blue, orange, and teal ribbons. Beside him, the stag drank too. The Fire Tiger glanced across at the crystal antlers hovering over the water, then settled his paws more firmly on the bank. There was plenty of valley left to explore. For now, he had company. #FireTiger #CrystalAntlers #CrystalWorld #FantasyStory #MoonlitJourney
