@ask_the_np_mom: Beads. Popcorn. Paper. Tiny toy pieces. Kids are incredibly creative. Before heading straight to the ER, there’s a simple technique pediatric providers often recommend called the Mother’s Kiss. Research shows it works about 50–65% of the time and the pressure created is actually less than a sneeze, making it a very safe first thing to try at home. A few important reminders: • Stay calm and reassure your child • Close the nostril without the object • Give one quick puff of air after a slow breath • You can try a few times if needed What not to do: Avoid tweezers, cotton swabs, or digging with your fingers. That often pushes the object deeper. If it doesn’t come out after a few tries, you can’t see the object, or your child is very upset — it’s time for a visit to your pediatrician or urgent care. Kids are curious. Noses are small. It happens more often than you’d think. Save this for later! you might thank yourself one day.
