Fun fact to bring into the discussion in favor of nuclear weapons: steel that was produced before 1945 is considered to be far more valuable for electronics and radiosensitive equipment because the nuclear tests introduced radioactive materials into the atmosphere which gets trapped in the steel during manufacturing meaning the steel is very slightly radioactive.
