It’s the regenerative braking, less so the acceleration. I’ve driven electric cars for 5 years and people buying them now aren’t used to the instant torque and its effects on braking as well. Essentially, new EV drivers aren’t smooth with power deliver and ESPECIALLY braking and this results in motion sickness.

Had a Tesla for a week, hated it. Ended up getting a Lexus instead. I prefer the Lexus’ cushioned quiet ride, ac seats, and heads up nav display. The Tesla literally felt like plastic & the seats were the most uncomfortable ever, but the most annoying was how much road noise we could hear. For how much that Tesla was, it felt cheaper than a 90s Ford Fiesta.

I get nauseous in the back of any car but I feel validated that you pointed out the best way to avoid car sickness is to just drive the vehicle yourself. I always have to be the driver because of how sick i get from not driving.

Ah, that’s why the elevators at my new job made me motion sick - but only for a few months until my body learned what they meant. Before that, I rarely used an elevator.
