In this video we walk through fixing a poorly wired lamp holder that was using electrical tape instead of proper connectors. The fixture was acting as a junction, passing power through while also feeding the light—but the connections were only wrapped in tape with no wire nuts or secure connectors. While the hot wires were twisted and soldered (technically compliant), the tape alone is not a reliable long-term solution. Over time, tape can dry out, become brittle, and fall off—exposing live conductors inside the electrical box. The fix uses Wago 221 lever nuts, specifically the 412 and 415 models, to properly secure both hot and neutral wires. A pigtail connection is added, and all wires are grouped safely with proper connectors. A pull test ensures everything is locked in place. One major advantage of Wago connectors is the ease of installation.
