My daughter got let go because of no call no show and she called the manager and left a voicemail also tried to find coverage for her shift. She emailed the manager as well their handbook says suspension also took her last check. Does she have any legal standing?

Um- firing or laying off people is not "taking on new hires". You can 100% freeze hiring but that doesn't automatically equate to firing people.

Meh. I’d almost prefer to get laid off by text or email. Doesn’t change anything, your behaviour during exit should be living up to your own standard not theirs. Move on to better things.

I had a hernia repair surgery scheduled for a Monday and I was told to take a few days off, and take OxyContin as needed. I was asked to go into work on Tuesday to attend a meeting, I said no. I was asked to join a zoom call if I can’t make it to the office, I said no. There is a monthly staff meeting, but my surgery was scheduled a month in advance, and I gave notice of the surgery. I refused to go to the meeting or zoom call. They were not pleased.

I don't understand how you can fire someone via text. How is that? Not a Zoom call or a face-to-face talk in the office. It seems like such a cop out to do that through text.

a company I was working for back in 2022 had a new manager come in about 2023 to 2024 and replace another manager that was retiring, the old manager was my boss essentially and my old boss has me on a career progress path which would make me a middle manager.. I had the experience and all that but not too long after the fact she came in, she appointed a new one.. and she had cut hours in key locations despite they were designed specifically to fit the time required to get them done. well she ran that department to the ground and lost several big venues and clients for the company. I left not too long before shit officially hit the fan. no idea if she is working for them still.

My father in law had his friend who was a lawyer write a letter to the local school for father in laws back pay and pto owed after telling him no. Upon viewing their records they agreed with the figures, they had no records

I feel like I’ve seen this exchange before from another content creator and it occurred in Europe where they have much different rules regarding employment, which is why the employee had a lot more leverage.
