My 20 month old just sucks the toothpaste off the brush and then just chews the toothbrush. It’s literally the biggest battle and she physically won’t let us brush her teeth

I have to pin my 20 month old down she absolutely hates it 😭 I just do the best brush I can as quick as I can

dental nurse for 21 year and a oral health practitioner, please please change your toothbrush every three months. you only need a pea size amount of toothpaste from age of five. ones they can tie their shoe laces they can brush their own teeth so around 7/8 years old please don't rinse the toothpaste away just spite the excess paste away. you need the fluoride to strengthen the enamel. please please don't rinse the toothpaste away.

Toothbrushing baby shark song on YouTube and then a screen free option on the tonie box (toothbrush express or something). for the older ones they just do a timer on the Google and choose a song to play. if refusing completely usually storytime in my bed or in their younger sisters bed usually is enough to encourage them to snap out of it. "when you're finished brushing teeth we can have storytime" but its been a long road tbh! xx

I always showed my boy me brushing my teeth so when I started brushing his we did it together I brushed mine and his at the same time. He found it fun as I brushed his he’d hold my tooth brush to help me do mine, he’s 15 months and opens his mouth as soon as he sees the tooth brush. X

I brush my 18 m olds little teeth twice a day but he seems to have, what looks like yellow plaque on the back of his two bottom teeth! I mean, he still has milk.. Any tips? Xxx

Our almost 2 year old will only let us brush her teeth when we use a puppet to hold the tooth brush, and she has to get a sticker afterwards - it works so that’s all that matters to us 🤣🤣🤣

i lie my 14mo with his head in my lap and sing the Ms Rachel/ Jules teeth brushing song and he opens his mouth straight away 😂 but I have to be singing, otherwise nope, not having it. I'll have to get the dentist in on it when he has his first check up in the summer 😂

my little girl used to brush her teeth for fun and it was brilliant and she used to love doing it but all of a sudden she point blank refuses to brush her teeth and it is so hard, I have tried sticker charts etc im really struggling what can I do. x

I sing the baby shark song to my almost 2 year old and use each step in the song for different sections of her teeth - lets say i start on the bottom left, i sing the baby shark part. Bottom right, mama shark part. Top left, dadda shark part. Top right, grandma part. Front of her teeth, grampa part. Run away part, gently do her tongue (which is her favourite part!)... then finish the rest of the song off by going over all of the teeth together. if she starts to bite on the tooth brush and doesnt let me brush them, we start the song again... she picks up straight away that we need to get through the song for me to stop brushing her teeth. It is very rare she kicks up a fuss to have them brushed
