I think Alan Rickman knew what Shakespeare was saying. I didn’t, but he definitely did

It isn’t until you see a Shakespearean actor do it that you get it. Just any actor can’t do it! It’s a niche rly

it's so validating to hear grown ass adults saying this because when I was a teen and we had to read Shakespeare in high school I just thought I was stupid because I couldn't understand a word of it 😅

Hearing this from a veteran actor is so validating because I feel the exact same way

I had my students rewrite scenes using their own language. You haven't lived or laughed til you've heard a kid say ,"Yo is that da moon or Juliet up in that winda?" My students loved this project. I had them listen to Andy Griffith do a version too. 😂

As an English lit major I put off Shakespeare until my last semester because I did not gaf. It really upsets people when you say this but who cares lol

I thought this until I saw Sir Ian McKellen in the West End. He made it sound like a casual chat with grandad

As a Shakespearean who has dedicated their life to studying and teaching Shakespeare, I must agree with them lol.

Here's the thing, you need to a little bit but work first but once you understand Shakespeare it is the most glorious thing in the world.

Nah hard disagree. I’ve seen a couple of shakespeare plays at the Globe that I knew very little about going in, and you catch on pretty fast to what’s going on and what people are saying even if the nuances are lost. The audiences (young and old!) loved it too, they laugh and cry and cheer and boo! Human communication is so much more than language, and two actors should know that.

If you do Shakespeare right - the audience knows exactly what’s going on!! In 6th grade we did “midsummer nights dream” for a national play competition - Everyone loved it and we won gold in the comedy category!!

Actually a lot of us DO know. But EVERY play has at least an hour that can be cut. Keep it short and sweet, and the show is 100x better

When actors pull off Shakespeare I’m convinced they can do anything. It’s so hard
