@alicebleathman_: It’s taken me a while to share this because I carried a lot of guilt around it. I exclusively breastfed for 11 months, but after failed sleep training, going back to cosleeping, and feeling completely touched out, I knew I was done xx #weaning #breastfeeding #cosleeping
Girl, when you know you know. You’ve done amazing to hit 11 months. It’s not a race xx

everyone's journey is different & you're doing an amazing job, mumma! A happy you is the best thing you can give your family ❤️I know I've mentioned before I worked with Carmel from Calm Babies & she was incredible with our sleep training journey - our 6.5mo bubs only woke for 1 dream feed after the 1st night of training. Carmel does an "ask me anything" sticker box on her IG every Fri & offers free 15min consultations, should you ever want to go down the sleep training path again. I know so many mummas scarred from sleep training that she's helped as well ❤️keep showing up for yourself, it's the most important thing xx

When making formula you need to add WATER 1ST then the correct level scoops of formula. accuracy is important so the milk isn't over-concentrated. that will help baby to feel more full

I think you just know as a mum when to stop. I breastfed my last child for 15 months I think. But my first was only 6 weeks. The other 2 somewhere in between. Any amount of time is an amazing effort

Thank you for sharing this 💗 I've felt exactly the same, the guilt of stopping when they haven't refused the boob is so real. So glad you have prioritised your mental health here, 11 months of breastmilk is amazing for him 🙌

Why anyone thinks it’s ok to judge another woman on the decision about breast feeding is beyond me. Be proud of yourself girl. #fedisbest

Silent follower here - my journey is so similar to yours. My son is almost 11 months, doesn’t sleep well, doesn’t take a dummy. He will take a bottle if he must though. Considering stopping breastfeeding as sleep is important for mama too 😅 but scared I’ll be sad to see our journey end.

Anyone who’s been a mum (my kids are 22 & 24) knows that bf is a personal choice and how long you do it is completely up to you as it’s different for everyone. Don’t feel guilty. You’ve done amazing to last 11 months!!

Don’t consider the one month as a failure when you did a whole 11 months! That’s impressive, I hope I make it that long but I’m not putting too much pressure on myself. Lots of love you sound like a great Mum.

About to hit 8 months PP/BF and I’m bloody over it but also am too tired to get up in the night to make him a bottle so it’s just easier to stick him on the boob. I don’t know I’m so exhausted.

I stopped at 4/5 months… just too much for me. I pumped a lot of milk whilst breast feeding so I had a lot of milk in the freezer but now my baby just wants formula. Better for everyone.

I was forced to quit breastfeeding at nine months with my first so I had in my head for my second I would do it until 12 months. However, one day at nine months my gut said nope stop now. Fed is best and my mental health is equally important 💕

This is literally what breastfeeding is. It just comes as a shock on your first round. After 3 babies I still couldn’t bring myself to use formula because of the extreme guilt after half n lactation nurses shame. In turn my mental health was needing hospitalisation from the lack of sleep for such a long time and yeah it’s actually quite horrific the other side of the breastfeeding experience. Good on you for being brave enough to make the switch n stopping the internal shame.

I exclusively breastfed for 9 months . I was skin and bone and exhausted. My doctor said but him on a bottle . I went and bought formula on the way home and gave him the bottle. I never looked back . My other two children I Breast fed for a time but for different reasons only did 3 and 4 and a half months . I just think you have to do what you do. To stay sane and safe. All my kids are functioning adults now. 🤣

my plan with my first was to feed for as long as I could
made it to 14 months with the first before she started to just bite every time
my second sounds more like yours, feeds ALL THE TIME
not sure we'll be making it to 14 months this time

Love this. Thank you for sharing. I am 9 1/2 months into my breastfeeding journey and have mastitis for a second time so I’m thinking it’s time to very slowly start weaning as I think I’m done for similar reasons to what you mentioned.
