@dr.garthdavis_01: Glyohosate is a hot topic. You would think if you got anywhere near it, you would immediately die but actually the lethal dose is very high and we know this because people have tried to kill themselves by drinking it. Most of the chemical is used on commodity crops given to our animals that we eat. unfortunately because we have to feed tons of animals, we need monocultural crops and those crops are sensitive to pests. So the meat and dairy has GP too. Some GP is used to ripen crops. There have been multiple studies trying to determine whether this chemical can lead to cancer. Most studies have shown that it does not cause cancer unless in high doses. The IARC gave it a I|A rating which means it probably causes cance, but this report was criticized for leaving out some studies that showed it did not cause cancer. Most governing bodies feel that the low dose exposure that we get now does not lead to cancer. So should you avoid oats? Of course not. You may get a small amount of exposure to Glyphosate but the benefits of the oats have been shown time, and again in multiple different studies. If you have the money, and can find it in your area, then organic choices will reduce your exposure. However, most of my patients simply can't afford organic and are often in food deserts where they can't even buy organic.
