ours did the same thing!! We started by giving him a treat every single time we left (start with short trips out of the house first). We also made him a cozy spot so he could look out the window. Now he’s great home alone and gets in his spot for his treat when he hears us put coats on. He’s usually still there looking out the window when we get back. routine is everything!

Aww. I got my 5 month old boy a friend . Another dachshund 13 weeks !! They are better in pairs but at the same time they have to get use to sharing you hahahaha …… All they do is sleep while I’m away but when I’m home they play the whole time !

Mine was like this too. Every time I left he would just howl. Got complaints sometimes too. Got him a friend and now I don’t have to worry about it anymore.

I’m not sure if this would help in your situation but for us, we introduced a snuggle puppy very early on (the one with a heartbeat and warming pack inside) (we found it on Amazon) and our puppy sleeps with it every night and drags it around all day long when we’re not home. It helps him a lot with his separation anxiety.

Don’t get a second one, I got a second one thinking it would both help until they were both howling. Crate training, ease into it, make it her happy/safe space. Only positive reinforcement, and leave a shirt or something with your scent in there
