I’m sure I’m not the typical candidate for this kind of a thing, but I think pursuing things like this is so normal. Everyone gets curious. Everyone wants something to be just about them sometimes. That said, I’ve had far far better partners. Probably for a variety of reasons. I’d take a normal guy over a pro any day of the week.

As someone who is also a hireable man, I'm genuinely so sorry for your experience. It's partly why I have reviews as well as references with coworkers so that should someone be curious about my skills, I have people to back up my claims. That being said, you could've just gotten someone who was just not good. I hope this doesn't permanently turn you off hiring someone else, but I appreciate you took the chance.
