Our adult son coughed for 8 months, one year post gallbladder removal by the way. Allergies since 5 yrs old. Chest X-Ray showed mild fluid around upper bronchial tree, two course antibiotics, steroid inhaler etc, no real improvement. We were at Universal, mom/son trip which he coughed throughout but being with him 24/7 I noticed pattern. Got home, after 5 days OTC Prilosec cough completely resolved. Made appt with PCP, left with prescription for Nexium..nope and did not continue prilosec. Switched from carnivore for weight loss to Mediterranean, Aloe Vera juice every am on empty stomach, OTC digestive enzyme largely papaya, pineapple derivative 90% improvement! By the way that abnormal CXR probably aspiration of stomach contents.
