@singledad19932: Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat. 1974 By 1974, armed conflict in Mindanao had intensified during the period of Martial Law in the Philippines. Fighting between government forces and Moro insurgents linked to the Moro National Liberation Front spread across many parts of the region. In the coastal village of Malisbong in Palimbang, government troops moved into the area during a military operation aimed at suppressing insurgent activity. On the morning of September 24, 1974, soldiers gathered hundreds of residents from nearby communities. Many men were separated from their families and brought to the Tacbil Mosque, where they were detained. Witnesses later reported that groups of men were taken outside the mosque and shot. At the same time, women and children were taken toward the coast and transported by naval vessels under military guard. Homes in the village were also burned during the operation. Survivor accounts and later investigations reported that more than 1,000 Moro civilians were killed, making it one of the most devastating incidents of violence against civilians during the conflict in Mindanao. Today the Malisbong (Palimbang) Massacre remains one of the most painful and contested chapters of the Martial Law era, remembered as a tragedy that deeply affected Moro communities in southern Philippines.
