@fisherzhangs_in_china: I’ve witnessed some incredible developments during my time in China, but nothing underscores the country’s rapid progress quite like the transformation of a single journey. The trip I often take between my wife’s hometown to the capital used to be a 12‑hour slog on a sleeper train—cramped berths, restless nights, and the gentle clatter of the tracks marking time. Now, that same route is covered in under two hours on a bullet train, gliding silently past the countryside at over 300 kilometres per hour. It’s more than just a change in speed; it’s a visceral reminder of how far this nation has come in such a short span. What about you? What are some of the most striking changes you’ve witnessed here—or in your own country—over the last decade or so? #china #chinatravel #travelchina #expatlife #english
The UK rail network is a joke. Overcrowded, uncomfortable and unreliable.

Wow, I visited family in Changchun in the NE in 2013 and got the sleeper to Beijing and thought the rail service was great back then, that's an incredible advancement.

China seems like those rare companies that reinvest most of their profit back into themselves and grow exponentially over time.

my first train ride in China I went from Dalian to Shenyang. There were sheep, pigs and loads of hay everywhere on the the train with me. It took 5 hours one way. Went back this summer and took a speed train from Chengu to Chongqing and it took a little less than 2 hours ! things have changed so much and so quickly in China it's incredible

I came to New York in 1998, and to this day, the highway leading to JFK Airport is still under construction—and jammed with traffic—every single day. Back then, taking a bus from Wenzhou to Shanghai took 20 hours; now, the high-speed train gets you there in just two and a half hours.😂

China, infrastructure development is unbelievable and as you say the rail network is brilliant. Having been on both the sleeper train from Shanghai to Beijing and then the high speen train. it's unbelievable.
