Not including your parents in a gender reveal is heartbreaking. If people other than mom/dad and medical staff are present so should grandparents. I know the MIL in this is a nightmare but this is harsh.

my mother is turning into these MILs. i told her i wanted a small baby shower, like a bbq at her place with my parents, my MIL and me and my mans bffs and she said no and that she will pay for a good baby showe cuz i deserve it. i was grateful until the planning started. i organized everything and sent it to her and she started readjusting it o how she likes and even invited someone i didn't want there and she said "well it's MY baby shower too since it's my grandbaby so she is invited" baby shower is in a week and I'm tired and stressed and don't even want this party anymore😭

We found out the gender at the ultrasound appt with just my husband and I. This is why I am not of fan of the gender reveal party trend, it should be about the couple and the baby not everyone else

I’ve said it to my parents and my in laws: ITS NOT ABOUT YOU! They had their babies years ago and got to do it their way or allow others to pressure them but now we are having children and we will do it OUR way!

I feel like I’m gonna get flamed for this but I get why she’d hurt. “Intimate” gatherings — especially ones involving birth and weddings and funerals — usually include immediate family. Not saying they HAD to invite her, but I would be hurt if I were in her shoes.
