I mean it’s gonna be the same top 4 teams everyone ranked before the tournament as the favorites for next wbc Venezuela USA DR and Japan in whatever order cause they have the most players in the mlb. Then the dark horses that could make a run like Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada, Italy. With their talent this was USA’s best chance out of all the WBCs currently, but this could inspire every country to get more mlb players involved

The issue is that the lineup only tried to hit homers the entire tournament. No team in the history of baseball has ever won a championship by trying to homers. Those teams don’t work in games where runs are at a premium and you need to manufacture them. Judge looked completely lost when trying to do something other than just hit a home run. That’s why Witt, gunner, turang and PCA did well. Why derosa left 2 of those guys out in the big game is unbelievable

I think having young guys like Skenes, PCA and Roman Anthony on this team shows that the WBC is basically here to stay as a cultural force, if it was an unc reunion with only ppl who’ve gotten their salaries guaranteed until their 40s I would be worried about the long term commitment from the US, but having young guys who are just entering the peaks of their careers be committed to actually trying to win this tournament bodes well for future US involvement in the WBC.

The US losing was the best thing that could have happened. In 4 years Skubal isn't driving back just to sit on the bench. such a great tournament
