@airic.z: (Nuanced notes below 👇 ) This is the framework I use to determine which accounts I prioritize first. How do you prioritize your accounts? The nuanced version: 1. Emergency fund. Keep it in a HYSA or if it’s large (above £10k) consider a cash ISA. 2.Employer match pension. Take advantage of the bonus you get from your employer. Opting out is giving yourself a pay cut for no reason. 3. Individual Savings Accounts. This could be S&S ISA or LISA, or both. How you want to prioritize depends on your goals and the property you are looking for. 4. SIPP. You do get the tax savings here. Ideally if your employer offers a salary sacrifice, I would do that instead to save on National Insurance and student loan contributions. 5. General account. If you’ve maxed out everything above, it’s time to just use a general account. There’s no tax benefits here so just keep that in mind.
