Because when you move a man in, the only thing that’s 50-50 is the rent. Is the cooking 50-50? The cleaning? The food bill when he eats twice what you do, and eats the food you were saving? Is his hygiene 50-50? His time management? His friends in your house at all hours? Is his faithfulness guaranteed? His communication? His conflict resolution or does he slam doors and break things when he’s upset? Is he going to want to be the man of the house while you pay half the rent? And considering the fact that a lot of bills/expenses are based on usage, instead of being a flat rate, 50/50 isn’t really beneficial. For example, if my monthly grocery expenses doubles, but we’re going 50/50, then I’m anyway paying the same amount that I was before
