@sweetteach_ory: I woke up. I’m a 10. Not fat. Not a liberal. Not a vegan. I can cook. I can fight for my family. Yay or nay? #olderwoman #OOTD #blonde

For the first time in weeks, Lena wasn’t at work. Miu noticed before anyone else did. She noticed the empty chair. The untouched coffee. The absence of the quiet voice that usually answered her questions before she’d finished asking them. At nine, Miu told herself Lena was late. At ten, she checked her phone. Nothing. At eleven, she finally asked. “Where’s Lena?” Her assistant hesitated. “She resigned this morning.” Miu stared at her. “She what?” “She submitted everything before the office opened.” The words didn’t make sense. Miu looked toward Lena’s empty desk again. “Did she say why?” “No.” Something cold settled beneath Miu’s ribs. She left before anyone could ask another question. … Lena’s apartment door was unlocked when Miu arrived. “Lena” No answer. She stepped inside. And stopped. Boxes covered the living room. Books were stacked in uneven piles. Clothes had been folded into suitcases. Photographs were being wrapped carefully in paper. Lena stood near the window, holding a roll of tape. She looked at Miu. Neither spoke. Then Miu whispered, “Where are you going?” Lena lowered her eyes. “Away.” Miu’s throat tightened. “Away where?” “I don’t know yet.” “Why?” Lena gave a small, exhausted laugh. “You know why.” “No.” “You do.” “Is this because of me?” Lena’s silence answered. Miu stepped closer. “You resigned because of me?” “I resigned because I couldn’t stay.” “Why couldn’t you?” Lena looked at her. Her eyes were already shining. “Because I love you.” Miu stopped. The words she’d wanted for weeks. The words that should have made everything easier. Instead, they felt like a door closing. Lena wiped quickly beneath one eye. “I love you so much that staying started hurting.” Miu shook her head. “Then don’t leave.” “You know I can’t.” “Why?” “Because you have someone.” “I know.” “And I can’t keep being the person you run to when you feel lonely.” “You’re not that.” “Then what am I?” Miu opened her mouth. Nothing came. Lena smiled sadly. “Exactly.” Miu looked down. Her voice came out barely above a whisper. “You’re the person I think about when I’m supposed to be thinking about anything else.” Lena’s breath caught. “You’re the person I look for when I walk into a room.” Miu’s eyes filled. “You’re the person I want to call when something good happens.” A tear slipped down Lena’s cheek. “And when something bad happens,” Miu continued, “you’re the first person I want.” Lena turned away. “Please stop.” “I can’t.” “You have to.” “I don’t know how.” Lena pressed a hand against her mouth, trying to steady herself. Miu stepped closer. “I love you.” Lena closed her eyes. Miu’s voice broke. “I love you, Lena.” Lena finally turned back. “I love you too.” For a moment, they simply stood there. Two women who had spent so long pretending they could control what they felt. They couldn’t. They never could. Miu reached for her hand. Lena let her. Their fingers intertwined. “I wish I had met you first,” Miu whispered. Lena shook her head. “Don’t.” “I mean it.” “I know.” “I wish things were different.” “So do I.” “Then stay.” Lena’s tears finally fell. “If I stay, we’ll keep doing this.” Miu didn’t answer. “Every time you come to me,” Lena whispered, “I’ll forgive you.” Her voice trembled. “Every time you kiss me, I’ll want another.” Miu’s eyes closed. “And every time you go home to him, I’ll break a little more.” Silence. Lena squeezed her hand. “I can’t keep loving you like that.” Miu looked at her. “So this is goodbye?” Lena swallowed. “Yes.” The word nearly destroyed them both. Miu stepped closer. “Can I have one more?” Lena knew what she meant. She nodded. “Just one.” Their lips met. Slowly. Tenderly. There was no desperation this time. Only grief. Miu held her as though memorizing the shape of her. Lena’s fingers curled into the back of Miu’s coat. Neither wanted to be the first to let go. When they finally separated, their foreheads remained together. Miu whispered, “I’ll love you.” ~~continuation in the comments ~~ #lenamiu #thaigl #fypp #storytime #lenamiu🧸🦋🤍
