i also used to struggle with binge eating, and the adhd thing is very much real, its the constant need to be stimulated, whenever i have an urge its usually when im feeling a bit down, or just when im bored honestly, what helped me is always eating what im craving when i crave it, eg chocolate or something sweet even if its 11am, also a big substantial breakfast is helpful

Just a girl named Bexx :
I have adhd and find that my brain when it’s lacking dopamine or bored I crave foods that are crunchy or squishy idk I have a food texture thing lol and then I’ll just overeat on really healthy foods like nothing bad but I’ve overeaten on bananas, sweet potato, carrots, rice all because I was craving the texture and I think it comes down to self soothing too but what’s been helping me is changing my environment and staying extremely distracted and busy

I did experience something similar, went from anorexia to trying to just eat whatever I wanted. But it resulted in being the same excuse kinda? So same feeling, different action but same problem?

Best thing I recommend is don’t eat whilst doing other things eg: on phone, watching tv, etc etc. just sit with the food in your own mind and enjoy it bite by bite 🥰 love that you’re sharing this though. Such good awareness my love!! Xx

I struggled with BED for a really long time turns out a lot of it was ADHD related but I also slip again into old habits from time to time if I’m feeling emotionally dressed or making a big life decision!

I would say take it back to basics. Try to structure your meals and snacks for a few weeks, not necessarily what you’re eating so it’s not restrictive but so that you have a predictable back in your day

Not everything needs a diagnosis, it’s your body telling you different things.

I feel like this is driven by anxiety—you’re searching for a sense of completeness, and food becomes a way to fill that inner void.

I think also with neurodivergence, eating can be a kind of seeking stimulation of some kind, even if it’s not fully conscious. + with a restrictive background any kind of threat or feeling of food scarcity could trigger a response. This is simply from my own reading, experience and previous work w ED services but I’m no expert by any means lol

My brain was using sugar as a quick dopamine fix when I felt stressed, which kept me stuck in a binge loop. Cutting out processed sugar helped break that cycle while focusing on improving my diet. This way my cravings calmed down and the urges got weaker 🥰
If you can, try it while your nervous system resets and relearns new patterns, it’s honestly so effective!! I don’t see it as restriction anymore, but as protecting my brain and helping it regulate in a healthier way 💗 I hope that you feel better soon x

Try to Chew your food Well and once your Realise You Are zoning out, put the food down for a Minute. If you still want it After a few minutes, keep eating but otherwise just stop and turn to do something Else. If feel Like especially with ADHD you will probably have forgotten about it by then anyways if You Are Not really hungry

i had this (its common with adhd) and i found the vitamin NAC helped a lot. Its meant for lung health but its been known to help a bunch of people with ocd and adhd symptoms. It helped me quit vaping too! !
