Because the unemployment numbers aren’t accurate. It doesn’t capture people who have turned to working gigs to try to keep their heads above water. There are millions who cannot land permanent, full time jobs with benefits and they are not being captured in the unemployment numbers.

daycare in my area is 3k/month PER BABY. I had to quit my job bc paying for daycare was more than my paycheck. I'm not counted in the unemployment numbers.

unemployment may be down but with rents as high as they are, gas prices going up, and groceries through the roof, it's hard to feel like the economy is really in a good place for the average person

The Fed measures inflation differently than they did in the 70s. They don’t take energy and grocery prices into account anymore, and unemployment numbers don’t include people who have given up looking for jobs. Interested to see what he would say if the accurate numbers were reported
