They’ll eat it when they are ready for it. Maybe his pastures are starting to green up and they are just not going to the hay as much right now.

I've also got dry litter straight out of the chicken house and mixed with corn.. cows love it!!

One time we were try to raise our rfv on alfalfa for a dairy customer. We put liquid fertilizer on instead of potash for a couple cuttings. When we tissue tested it the sugar content in the leaves were higher on the liquid fields. The rfv was slightly higher too. Could be from a difference in the added organic matter or calcium in the litter could have changed the hay some. I’ve cut hay with litter and commercial fertilizer, and I’ve never noticed a difference from the cows.

Check the soil for fertility I bet there is a difference in the soil another words not saying one is better than the other but pallitability is different on the two plots

yes! I believe they can.I was using algae and biologicals and they would always go to the hay where the algae and biologicals were used.

I’ve never had a problem with what the eat it funny I have some hay that has some mold in it that I put out for them to pick through and they eat it gone before they touch the Alfalfa or grass hay
