I've given questions like this, and the caption is spot on. The goal is to *see the candidate thinking*. The only correct answer is to talk your way through the problem with a logical process, and to either defend your reasoning when challenged or adapt feedback intelligently. In an age of AI, I don't need to test what a candidate KNOWS, I need to test if they can THINK and ADAPT.
