As adoptee it’s traumatic. But now here I am I can’t have kids due to my heart condition now we’re looking into adoption and I have so many mixed feelings about it, but I really want to be able to have kids in adoption is kind of my only route so yes, I agree with you. It is very traumatic being adopted and also being in foster care and all that crap but now I feel like I’m in the same position as my adoptive parents were it’s a weird thing.

That’s why I did in family adoption to give my aunts their dream of being a mom and I can stay in babies life and I havnt been more thankful for them

i’m adopted and remember the day it happened like it was yesterday. but i wouldn’t change it for anything. my life now is exactly where i need and want to be! and i hope someday i can save a little boy or girl that needs a loving home :)

I feel the same, I feel like I would be so sad they wanted to keep the baby, but also, happy they decided to keep their little one 🩷🥹 I’d be proud of them!

100% she acted as if someone bought something at a store she wanted. A true mom would want the best for their kids even if it hurts.

i didn’t like her attitude about it AT ALL she acted like she was entitled to that child, when cases like this usually come with a warning to the adoptive family that it CAN fall through. as a child who was FOUGHT OVER as an infant in foster care, this is a very COMMON thing where people feel entitled. i ended up being adopted to family but the foster mom was PISSED i wasn’t given to her

yea i feel like her response was inappropriate but I also think we have to be careful when we try to put ourselves in other peoples shoes. infertility is one of those things that I cannot relate to because I have never experienced it. I cant imagine how people with infertility feel with the fact they want to create life so bad but cant. Infertility is one of those things that is really hard to empathize with if you've never experienced.

I saw one woman who was trying to adopt on Facebook complain about this. She was defending her position in the comments by saying the birth mom was too poor and the dad didn’t want the baby so the mom shouldn’t keep her child

I have 5 kids and wouldn’t begin to pretend I know what I’d do if I couldn’t have children of my own. Saying “I honestly don’t think” means you’ve never had to live this reality. Maybe we shouldn’t judge someone else’s pain and how they react to it.

My personal opinion:Birthing a child/providing your assistance in the process does NOT make you a mom or dad; those titles are earned. I wouldn't necessarily say that it's bad the birth parent decides to keep the baby, but adoption and surrogacy both are a lengthy process and include a lot of paperwork/contracts, so I 100% could understand the adoptee to be upset. However, both parties should be entitled to go through their feelings/grief as it can be traumatic for all adults involved as well as the child. We can NOT judge what we have not experienced/gone through
