Hi Elin! I grew up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, about an hour away from New Orleans (45 minutes on a good day). Highly recommend taking the short trip to see the Mississippi coast! We have a few small, quiet coastal towns that don’t have much, but on the weekends they have local vendor markets that I love going to! I also think you should check out the Amtrak! They have a “Mardi Gras” service that runs from New Orleans, through the Mississippi coast, and ends in Mobile, Alabama which is where they had the first Mardi Gras celebration in the US! Welcome to the South!!💘

I live in Thibodaux and went shopping with my wife and dog yesterday. We went to academy and a pet store. After 5 minutes I had to walk away from the conversations with strangers. My wife could have stayed much longer but I needed it wrapped up.

In New Orleans we are very accustomed to tourists, and for me I always enjoyed talking to tourists especially when I ran an art gallery downtown for years. It is one of the best things about the FQ.

Lived in ascension parish and Baton Rouge for years. My parents are from a small town called sorrento. Have you been to the coffee shop for beignets/ shopping/ seeing alligators? I just moved to Metairie right outside of Nola and found so many hidden gems. Me and my girlfriend would love to meet yall if yall come one day again & I have SO many recs. We don’t like to spend money so we know the good spots!!

Mandeville, Louisiana has a Farmer's Market called Trailhead Farmer's Market. My wife and I are vendors at the Trailhead market and we would love to meet yall. I have beef jerky and my wife has baked goods that you could try. Hope to see yall there. The market is on Saturdays from 9am till 1pm
