Posting was literally one of the first things I was taught to do when I was put on a horse as a kid. It was included in the very basics.

We cowboy for a living and I post to a trot 75% of the time that I am riding. it's how we go long distances...and it's more comfortable for the horse AND rider. I can put in 25 miles or more at a long trot. thighs of steel baby!

In Denmark, posting is called "light riding," precisely because it reduces the pressure on the horse's back, for example during warm-ups

Rising with the trot is the standard to learn from what I’ve personally seen in Australia. As soon as you start to learn to trot, you learn to rise with the trot. Sitting the trot is something you learn later. Also, your breathe control is insane, girl 😳 major kudos!

It is actually to free up the shoulder of the horse… it has its roots in functional horsemanship to keep the horse healthy.
