not only did samuel and daz know armin, they were all friends with each other. they spent a lot of time together training as the 104th, and they probably knew that armin would be able to talk them out of it.

No, I don't think he could change their minds. The point of that scene was to show how betrayal looks from the other side, when the characters themselves become "traitors." Armin understood this, because then, in season 2, when Berthold tried to explain his act to his former comrades, no one wanted to listen to him, they didn't care. It's the same now, only Armin himself turned out to be the "traitor". I think this shot in the mouth was also quite symbolic in the sense that no matter what arguments Armin brought, emotions and fear would prevail over all arguments

Wow I never actually realized that. This is actually my favourite scene in Aot cause Armin is my favourite character and I thought he was about to die. I’ve watched it sooo many times but never thought of this.

Ik if Armin had the same experience (years lived) as Erwin, Armin would be way better. I still think he is kinda better tho as much as I love Erwin. Armin hate needs to be studied 😭💔
