On Sunday, March 15th, 2026, around fifty to sixty activists led by @wayne_hsiung of Direct Action Everywhere entered Ridglan Farms in Wisconsin to save as many beagle puppies as possible from torture and death. They approached from the rear, wearing white hazmat suits to protect the puppies from outside germs and also the rescuers from the filth and squalor from inside the farm. Wayne acted on the “right to rescue” — the belief that if an animal is suffering, you have a duty to intervene, even if the law says otherwise. He broke the door in and started the rescue. Rows of beagles standing on wire flooring, in spaces barely larger than their bodies. No daylight. Deafening noise. Wayne described the smell as the same as a dog meat market in China. The team moved fast, lifting the beagles out of the cages, and carried them back out across the fields. In total, 31 beagle puppies were taken from the facility. Among the rescuers present was former Baywatch actress Alexandra Paul, who has been involved in animal activism for years. Police intercepted the group, and several activists were arrested. Around eight of the puppies were seized by authorities at the scene. Since then, the remaining rescued beagles are being loved and cared for for the first time in their lives. Sadly the seized puppies face the possibility of being returned. Wayne has since been released from custody and the team are carefully protecting the rescued puppies and asking the public to call up the sheriff’s office and ask the police to return the 8 seized puppies to them as they surely now are ‘contaminated and not suitable for test centres.
