@alluringarctic: 🇬🇧 WATER ON TOP OF ICE 🇫🇮 JÄÄN PÄÄLLE NOUSSUT VESI 🇫🇮 Vesisateiden ja matalapaineiden ansiosta erityisesti ranta-alueilla on nyt paljon vettä jään päällä. Tämän videon kuvat on useamman päivän takaa ja tilanne on siitä vain pahentunut. Etelätuulet painaa vettä erityisesti Perämerelle ja kun jäässä ei ole vielä paljoa avonaisia reikiä tai railoja niin jään päälle kerran noussut tai satanut vesi ei pääse pakenemaan pois helposti. Se vaikeuttaa kulkua huomattavasti ja vaikka monot olisi miten goretexiä niin läpimäräksi ne kastuu kuitenkin.. Tämä on yksi syy miksi yhden hengen retkikuntani on pitänyt nyt paussia, toisesta syystä lisää seuraavassa videossa! Toivoa on kuitenkin että matka jatkuu pian Oulusta!  Reippaasti yli 500 km linnuntietä on jo taivallettu ja "vain" ~120 km jäljellä 🇬🇧 Thanks to rain and low-pressure systems, there is now a lot of water on top of the ice, especially in coastal areas. The footage in this video is from several days ago and the situation has only gotten worse since then. Southerly winds are pushing water particularly into the Bay of Bothnia, and since the ice doesn't yet have many open holes or cracks, water that has risen onto or fallen onto the ice can't easily escape. This significantly hampers travel, and no matter how Gore-Tex my boots are, they still get soaking wet... This is one reason why my one-person expedition has had to take a pause  more on the second reason in the next video! There is hope, however, that the journey will continue soon from Oulu! I've already covered well over 500 km as the crow and "only" ~120 km remaining.
