@grieving_like_a_mother: We all have regrets in life. But after my daughter died I realized what mattered and what doesn’t. Live for today, live for what matters because you never know if it’s going to be your world that gets shattered in an instance. #lifeafterloss #livefortoday #liveforwhatmatters #regrets #childloss
Hands down one of the most powerful messages I have ever heard ❤️

You are being so hard on yourself. You’re an amazing mom. Regrets can be so loud after loss, but it doesn’t tell the truth. The truth is you loved your child and you still do ❤️

one if my favorite quotes-
"Regret is an odd emotion because it comes only upon reflection. Regret lacks immediacy, and so its power seldom influences events when it could do some good" William O'Rourke

One of my worst mom moments was with my older son getting his license - let my stress affect his day - years later when I told him that - he had no recollection of how I acted that day. So sometimes what we think is a terrible mom moment is really just a regular life moment to our kids. Great message here though and we are often our toughest critics.

You need to remember that your regrets aren’t your daughters. To her, you are and always will be her favourite person, the biggest comfort in her life. Death is out of our control and so are regrets. She knew you loved her so much, and that’s all that matters in life.

Can you tell us more about Alessia? What she loved, her favorite color, food, activities she participated in, etc... she sounds like such an amazing kid and so does her twin brother

Sounds like your decisions, thoughts and actions were all normal. I’m sorry you have these regrets. I think with tragedy (or not) always regrets. You’re so brave for sharing this and it puts things into perspective.

You did what you thought was important at that time, don’t be hard on yourself … hindsight is 20/20. But remember we do the best we can at the moment with the knowledge and the resources we have. So you did all the right things!

That is just normal life. If all of us knew how much time we had left we would all do things differently. You are a wonderful mom and shouldn’t blame yourself for what you didn’t do.

First and foremost, I’m deeply sorry for your loss. I came across your content, and really needed to hear this today. I’ve always been the yes mom, never ever say no to my kids. And I always have gotten tremendous flack for it for many different people. And then always questioned my parenting. But after hearing this, I know I’m doing the right thing. It’s the thing that feels most natural to me, and it’s not like they’re asking for outrageous things, so thank you for reminding me and keeping me living in the present. It’s really hard to do sometimes. I wish as many peaceful moments for you as possible.💕
