@blussomly: Replying to @Jake from the tv court trial Here’s how to feel okay about yourself on a completely unproductive thursday 😔 Today on stoicism but make it cute, we’re covering a practical application of stoicism rather than a core stoic concept itself. We’re talking about the issue with performance-based self-worth, and what to prioritise instead. As always, there’s a looot more to say about everything I’m mentioning. This video is meant only as an easy-to-digest introduction to the topic. You can find a longer version of this going into more detail in the 24th issue of my newsletter, the Soft Stoic Letter, out now. (🔗 in b10) 💌 - 🧚♀️ grab my workbook thru the 🔗 in my b10. - Also lil disclaimer: pls take this with a grain of salt, I’m not trying to mock anyone, this is for funsies (and a bit of education). It is just me trying to approach a rather “dry” topic of a philosophy that’s been branded in a very tough and masculine way in the past through a modern and more humorous lens. Hope you likey and hope you learned sth today! I use the check in technique, and it genuinely changed my relationship with myself and with external validation.
The end‑of‑day check‑in is actually a CBT tool my therapist taught me. Set two alarms: one around midday and one in the evening after dinner. When the alarm goes off, pause for a moment and look back at your day so far. Ask yourself whether you acted in alignment with your values and the person you want to be.
This practice does something subtle but powerful. Each time you reflect, you’re reinforcing a neural pathway that teaches your brain to source validation internally instead of chasing it from the outside and you really become who you want to be. Over time, you start to build a felt sense of integrity — not perfection, not performance, but alignment.
And the best part is that it still works on the rough days. Even if everything felt chaotic or you were overwhelmed or things didn’t go the way you hoped, you can still look back and find real evidence that you showed up in ways that match your values. Maybe you were patient when you could’ve snapped. Maybe you rested instead of pushing past your limits. Maybe you told the truth, or set a boundary, or tried again after a setback.
Those moments count. They’re the data points that slowly shift your internal narrative from “I need someone else to tell me I’m okay” to “I can see for myself that I’m living in alignment.”
That’s the part that changed everything for me, realizing that self‑trust isn’t a feeling you wait for. It’s something you build through repeated, gentle noticing.

I think for me it’s different. I don’t feel unworthy if I’m unproductive, I feel bad for myself because I know I’ll have to make up for it the next day and cause myself unnecessary stress
