I actually met an elderly man who was on an orphan train fascinating story. He grew up to be a child psychologist and a successful one at that.

I believe my grandmother was from the orphan train. We have no family history past her. Story has it she was raised by a neighbor lady after her parents passed away. Big Momma had no children and she took my grandma and raised her.

as a Canadian, we absolutely did learn about this in schools. and it was even mentioned in the Anna Green Gables books

Just think how many of our great grandparents probably had a different last name and didn't know or just forgot. our original sir name is most likely not what we believe it to be.

My great grandfather was a Bernardo home child. We requested his records and when he reviewed them he was upset about it. He was 14 so they needed his permission to send him to Canada via ship. The signature was forged on the document. It was signed with his middle name first, he never went by his middle name.
