My new landlord just doubled the rent in my mobile home park. Local owners sold to private equity in Delaware, not even in the same state. We’re already the poorest of the poor, paycheck to paycheck.

$1,285/month. That’s the lot rent in the mobile home park I grew up in after a (smaller) PE firm just bought it in January. They bought it and immediately doubled the rent. There are no rental homes in that park either, so you’re paying mortgage and everything like a regular home PLUS $1,285/month.

I was looking up mobile homes in my area and they cost just as much as regular apartments/houses at this point so it’s not even worth it. In most of the country you can’t even live in an RV on your own land unless you have all the proper utility hookups and pay taxes as if it’s a regular property. Living in a car is rough because cops will come whenever you’re parked somewhere. You’ve probably have to constantly move around to different rest stops all the time and hope for the best, but they’re gonna start filling up. They make everything impossible.

I saw someone comment something that was like a light bulb moment for me and made so much sense. they said that eventually, there will be subscriptions for damn near EVERYTHING. Including vehicles.

I remember when camping was $15 a night for an RV and $5 for tent camping now it’s average of 60-130/night for an RV or $20-35/tent

My dream is to buy some land in the middle of nowhere and build a cob home. I want likeminded family and friends to also live and work on this land and help build eachothers home. We gotta quit doing things the way they want us to!

This is true. I work for a non profit as a resource coordinator and I have a 90 year old client who owns her mobile home then private equity comes in and raises space rent to unaffordable rates, meanwhile 90 year old battle illness trying to figure out how to pay for space rent in a home she owns and doesn’t want to leave at 90!!!
