@c5news: During a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Thursday, Donald Trump was asked by a reporter why the US did not inform Japan before striking Iran, given “Japan and the US are very good friends”. The US President replied: “Well one thing, we didn’t wanna signal too much, you know? When we go in, we went in very hard, and we didn’t tell anybody about it because we… “Well one thing, we didn’t wanna signal too much, you know?” Trump then added: “Who knows better about surprise than Japan? Why didn’t you tell me about Pearl Harbor? OK?” The dark joke got some laughs from the crowd - but not the Japanese PM. Trump’s remark was in reference to Japan’s 1941 surprise attack on the US Pearl Harbor naval base in Oahu, Hawaii, which killed 2,403 US servicemen and civilians and wounded 1,178 others. The attack led to the US entering WW2.
