@tofology: The final boss of climate change is the person who never shuts up about boring solutions. They are the most powerful among us. We must become like them. #CLFPartner
Our AC died and we replaced the entire system with a heat pump. Gas and electric made our winter bill go from $150 to $50. We have solar, so summer is usually $30-50 too. We just keep the house at 70 year round.

yes! this is why I wont shut up about free school lunch, it is the biggest difference maker/equalizer in education outcomes - I dont have kids and never plan on it but children being fed and a community that prioritizes that simple thing creates lasting stability in a fundamental way

I promote the library so much that I’ve had friends ask me if I work there- but really they can meet so many needs !! just like busses, libraries are a radical solution

This is how I feel talking to people about elevator reform in the US and how it would help increase affordable housing options. But elevator code sounds so boring

I live in MA and we switched to heat pump when we bought our home last year. mass save reimbursed us for 50% of the cost and we are saving tons in bills every month. I wish every state had a rebate system like this

Just as unsexy as heat pumps: good insulation and window positioning. We can cut so much fossil fuel and electricity usage by slowing heat transfer.

Buses are fierce but trams would be SO much safer, environmentally friendly, and efficient. Its a big investment but they work so well.

1000%. We don’t need a million trendy “sustainable” clothing brands. We need to shop at thrift stores, swap clothes with friends/community members, and learn how to mend/tailor things. We don’t need trendy organic produce subscription boxes we need to find a local co-op, make friends with someone who owns chickens, and grow herbs in pots on the windowsill. Obviously these aren’t perfect solutions or accessible to everyone, but if people made a widespread shift, the impact would be huge! Not only to the environment but also to our wallets.

Trams! Cities need trams! Trams are great in all and any way. They are safe, clean, and efficient. And they are also cute)

we are in the process of converting our 1850s farmhouse in upstate ny from propane to heat pumps. literally the best thing ever especially rurally where natural gas isn't an option. barely moves our electric bill except in dead winter.

they are pretty expensive up front so we need policy makers to provide rebates (which is how I was able to get one)

I convinced my very conservative parents to install a hybrid furnace, so it’s a heat pump, but it also maintains the ability to burn natural gas when temperatures are below the efficiency rating for the heat pump. The heat pump covers 90% of their heating needs. This last year they only used a 1/4 of the gas they used in previous years

radical transportation solution: building cities/places we live so that you're not required to own a car to move around. walking, biking, busing, etc. smaller/denser means more space for green spaces, less traffic and all issues associated with cars
