Did he intentionally not give an example because he wanted us to create an example on our own and therefore it feels like our own idea

i do something different but similar with my employees 😂 when i already thought them how to do something but they arent doing it, i point out that there should be a faster way to do what they're doing. they somehow finally remembers what i thought them earlier and i just say "thats a great idea! try that!". they get so optimistic and suddenly they remember it every time 😂

Socrates was using this method in ancient Greece. It was called "μαιευτική" (midwifery) method.
Socrates believed that people already have knowledge within them, but they need help bringing it out. Just like a midwife helps deliver a baby.

I do this with my employees. If you have a horrible job that needs to be done, ask the how to fix it/do it. They’ll come up with a plan, I say “do you think it will work?”, bam- instant buy in for a job they wouldn’t have wanted to do in the first place, until it became their “good idea”. :)

Truly ‘inteligente’ people understand that not EVERY idea they have is by default a ‘good’ idea. Therefore they possess the ability to self analyse.

That’s manipulation through implication and framing, so basically you’re not making them feel clever you’re just tricking them and that’s really low level. If you wanna make them feel clever, you use the Socratic method cuz making them feel clever, is guiding them to come up with the idea, and you do this through asking questions and reasoning with that person, and not tricking them into jumping to a conclusion.

The most interesting thing about this video is that this guy does the same thing to us in the video: he gives an example that makes sense, he keeps it simple enough for us to follow through. And it feels like the idea of who he is comes from us.
1. We don't know him. (Your brain tells you he is someone who knows much about persuasion, we do not know that)
2. An example he gives, doesn't mean, what he states in this video, gives a true statement.
