@thatkshistorynerd: On our KC-area trip yesterday, we stopped by the historic Quindaro Ruins Overlook. Quindaro was a town established in 1856 along the Missouri River that later became an important hub along the Underground Railroad to help slaves escaped from Missouri across the river. The townspeople helped hide the escaped slaves and assisted them to safety in Nebraska. The town’s incorporation was revoked by the state legislature and it never recovered. Ruins of Quindaro can be seen through tours, but the best I could see was the view of the river and trails to the ruins. 🌻 #whosayskansasisboring
