When I had my Silverado i took my truck to get oil change at Walmart and when I decided to change my oil it took myself and my friend 2.5 hours and 3 trips to autozone to get that damn oil filter off. YES HAND TIGHTEN ONLY.

According to the interwebs my car tightens itself because of the heat cycles. And it's impossible to get that filter off even after putting it on barely hand tight.

And oil on the oring, doesn’t matter if it’s new or old oil. You don’t put it in your woman dry so don’t put your filter in dry.

the person that should be mad should be the car owner cuz he has to pay you to get it off

As someone who works at a jiffy lube (I’m the multi care tech so I don’t do oil changes). But we don’t use band wrenches to tighten filters at any store in my state. We strictly tighten to hand tight ONLY. Valvoline does require band wrenches though. And that’s also not a jiffy lube oil filter fyi. We use service champ at just about every location. Occasionally we have to order a filter locally but it’s usually Carquest

Not even hand tight, most people still overdo it hand tight. 3/4 past contact on most all filters. It’s a rubber gasket not a crush washer lol
