I grew up in New York City and I went to school on the upper east side. After school, my friends and I were walking to the bus to take it home and Ernie was walking by and I got so excited and I said hi Ernie and he stopped for 5 to 10 minutes and talked to all of us and asked us questions about ourselves and literally could not have been nicer. And I was probably only in sixth grade and I never forgot that day or Ernie. Great man with a beautiful smile💜

Beautiful tribute. You said they don’t make them like “Ernie” anymore but maybe they do. As long as YOU are doing your best at being your version of an “Ernie Anastos” and others you “reach” are doing the same, then his beautiful legacy lives on

Very well said 👍. I'm in my late 60's and grew up in Larchmont watching Ernie on the news all the time, he was always a pleasure to watch. Back then Ernie was on ABC news and if memory serves me correctly, he replaced Roger Grimsby around 1986 as the lead anchor. A position he held for 11 years before moving to Fox. Thanks for sharing and reinforcing my opinion that he was a genuinely nice guy. RIP Ernie and condolences to his family...😪🙏
