I just talk to anyone when I'm out and about . my kids always ask me who was that you were talking to and I'd say no idea just started gasbagging to them . my advice start with , Hi how's your day going and take it from there or something similar.

Your English is really good and easy to understand so please approach people and start talking about the weather, directions, ask what people think about things as you talk, here in Australia we are really friendly (Sydney and Canberra not so much lol, I had trouble getting any one to talk on the bus ect in Sydney and I saw them every day, in Newcastle, practically every one says Gday, how are you?
